Activists wanted to make Justin Trudeau “feel at home” as he arrived in the U.K. today.
Greenpeace welcomed Trudeau with a giant mock pipeline outside Canada House in London. Not only that, but Trudeau was confronted with what demonstrators described as his “alter ego,” a cardboard cut-out of the Prime Minister with the pipeline.

“We’ve built a huge oil pipeline outside Canada House in London to remind Justin Trudeau that building tar sands pipelines threatens water, Indigenous rights, wildlife, and climate health,” said Greenpeace U.K.
Greenpeace also took a shot at Trudeau as he was walking past the protest. “That awkward moment when you’re trying to chill with world leaders and your evil oil-pipeline-building alter-ego shows up,” they captioned a photo of Trudeau next to their cut-out.

Trudeau simply gave the protesters a thumbs-up as he walked by, then drove away.

The group is protesting the controversial Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion, which has caused lots of tension between Alberta and British Columbia. The decision to move ahead with the project is ultimately in the hands of the Federal Government, and Trudeau has said that one way or another, the pipeline will be built.
Trudeau is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister of the U.K., Theresa May today, and will also have an audience with the Queen.
