The province of British Columbia is looking to make it easier to test for COVID-19.
According to the Bc government, starting March 7, rapid antigen test kits will be available at community pharmacies for anyone aged 60 and over.
Eligible individuals can pick up one kit, which contains five tests, every 28 days. These kits will also be free of charge.
In order to grab the kits, individuals will need to show their personal health number. If you are picking up a kit on another person's behalf, the individual's number, birth date and name must be supplied.
"Individuals should pick up a test kit when they are asymptomatic to use at a future time when they have symptoms," wrote the province. "Guidelines for testing continue to indicate tests should be used for symptomatic individuals."
As of March 3, over 3.9 million kits have been shipped to distributors. BC is expecting to receive an additional 9 million tests from the federal government, which will support the province's strategy to further distribute tests to members of the broader community.
