On Monday afternoon, RCMP held a press conference addressing the investigation into the discovery of a deceased male near Dease Lake, BC.

Police first discovered the body at a highway pullout along Highway 37 approximately 50 kilometres south of Dease Lake on Sunday, July 19.

Officers have now released a composite sketch of the deceased man in order to assist investigators in confirming his identity.

The deceased male is described as

Police first found the body while launching an investigation into missing BC teenagers Kam Mcleod and Bryer Schmegelsky.

A truck belonging to the two men was discovered torched approximately 2 kms from the dead body.

Police have confirmed the body is neither Mcleod nor Schmegelsky, but cannot confirm whether there is any link between the missing teens and dead body.

“It’s possible . . . we have two complex and dynamic ongoing investigations that are happening in northern BC and they have Major Crimes working on both files at this time,” said Cpl. Chris Manseau on Monday afternoon.

“We’re using all conventional techniques including air services, police dog services and Search and Rescue to look for the missing men.”

Anyone with any information about the identify of the deceased male is asked to please call 1-877-543-4822  or 778-290-5291.
