This rescued pup is about to steal your heart all over again.
Rialto the rescued sea otter now has a children’s book all about his journey. The book, written by Seattle Times reporter and photographer Lynda V. Mapes, will be launched at the Vancouver Aquarium on April 13.
The Vancouver Aquarium says that you may even get a 'signed' copy with a paw print stamp.
Rescuing Rialto begins on a sunny August morning in 2016 when a baby sea otter was found washed up on the sand.
“Orphaned and sick, Rialto was taken to the Seattle Aquarium, where his dedicated caretakers nursed him back to health and taught him how to be an otter,” reads the book description. “Soon, the charming Rialto was stealing hearts as he played with toys made of ide, swam in his very own pool, ate tasty clams, and floated on his back.”
To celebrate the launch ahead of time, the aquarium shared some of Rialto’s most adorable moments!
The launch will take from from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday. Rescuing Rialto is written by Mapes and photographed by Alan Berner; the reporter and photographer duo from the Seattle Times who chronicled Rialto’s story as it happened.
The launch will feature a book reading and signing with Mapes and Berner, a visit from Ollie the Sea Otter mascot and a special sea otter program. Click here for more information.
