(Update November 29th) - The search for a small engine plane and its two occupants entered its fifth day on Wednesday.

“Rescuers scoured an area about 18 kilometres north of Revelstoke again on Tuesday with aircraft and ground crews, including search dogs,” said Lt. Melissa Kia with the Victoria Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre (VJRCC).

According to VJRCC, the search grid has been refined based on more complete information from radar and the cellphone tower that picked up a signal from the pilot's phone at about the same time the plane was reported missing on Saturday.

Winter weather has hampered search efforts with rescuers having to deal with heavy snowfall and a low cloud ceiling each day.

The plane was on a flight from Penticton to Edmonton when it disappeared.

(Original Story) - Tuesday is a critical day for search and rescue personnel hunting for a missing plane in B.C.’s Interior.

The single-engine plane has been missing since Saturday after departing the Penticton Airport with a planned route to Edmonton.

On Monday, searchers narrowed their hunt to focus on a search area ten nautical miles north of Revelstoke.

"The biggest challenges will be weather as snow continues to fall and the terrain is very mountainous and forested," said Victoria Joint Rescue Co-Ordination Centre (JRCC Victoria) spokesperson Katelyn Moores.

"Yesterday afternoon we reduced the search area to the 10 nautical miles outside of Revelstoke. That decision was made based on the information collected from the cell phone tower as well as NORAD radar and civilian radar."

A snowfall warning is being issued for the B.C. Interior where up to 20 cm of snow is expected to fall on the Trans-Canada Highway by late afternoon.
