(UPDATE: 12:05 p.m.) - After two nights outside in the cold, search and rescue crews have located missing dog walker Annette Poitras alive and in good condition.
All three dogs were found alive with Poitras as well.
Coquitlam Search and Rescue is currently in the process of extracting Poitras and the three dogs by a helicopter long-line rescue.
(Original story: 11:00 a.m.) - The search for a missing professional dog walker continues in the Lower Mainland.
At the request of the RCMP, Coquitlam Search and Rescue (CSAR) began looking for 56-year-old Annette Poitras on Monday at 8 p.m.
She’s described as a Caucasian who is 4’11” with blonde hair, blue eyes and a medium build.
Also missing are the three dogs that Poitras was walking on Monday.
That includes her own border collie Chloe, a young boxer named Roxy and a 13-year-old puggle (beagle/pug cross) named Bubba.
Poitras is fit and active and walks dogs in the area at least once a day, so she’s familiar with the trails in the area and was dressed appropriately.
However, CSAR doesn’t believe she was carrying any additional equipment with her to handle an extended stay in the wilderness.
The search for Poitras was put on hold once the sun went down on Tuesday due to severe rain in the area, but it resumed on Wednesday morning.
