The province was shocked in August when people woke up to the news of the Sea to Sky Gondola collapsing.

What started as fear over such a popular tourist attraction falling to the ground turned into confusion and anger over the fact that the cable was cut intentionally.

Although police are still investigating in hopes of identifying who’s responsible for the heinous crime, crews have been working to restore the gondola since the summer.

Today, all that hard work has allowed the Sea to Sky Gondola to reopen to the public.

With the new cabins safely in place on the brand new main haul rope, which arrived from Switzerland in the fall, the gondola will carry its first passengers since August today.

Things kicked off with an opening ceremony at 9:15 am and the celebrations continue throughout the day with music, food, beverages, vendors and more.

It’s a great spot to celebrate Valentine’s Day or the Family Day weekend, especially since lift tickets are 50% off today through Monday.
