Tow truck driver in BC dies after medical emergency on Trans Canada Hwy

A man was killed after suffering a medical emergency while driving along the Trans Canada Highway in Greater Victoria yesterday. 

According to police, at about 10:18 am, West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle going off the roadway and stopping in the meridian on the Trans Canada Hwy near the Helmcken Rd off ramp.

Police and BC Emergency Health Services attended and attempted life saving measures however, the driver was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle was a flat deck tow truck being driven by a 49-year-old man who was determined to have had a medical emergency while driving. 

The BC Coroner’s Service was notified and there is no foul play suspected in this death.

“West Shore RCMP extends their condolences to the driver’s family and friends,” said the RCMP.
