UPDATE: Alternate route for Trans Canada HWY closure west of Revelstoke

UPDATE (9:30 a.m.): An alternate route has been provided for the Trans Canada closure west of Revelstoke.

While Highway 1 remains closed in both directions, an alternate route has been provided.

The alternate route runs through Highway 23 and Highway 6, through Shelter Bay, Galena Bay, Needles and Fauquier.

There is currently a geotechnical engineer onsite.

Drive BC's next scheduled update isn't until June 10th at 9:00 a.m.

You may have to cancel your travel plans if you were headed to Revelstoke this weekend.

A wash out on the Trans Canada Highway has closed the road in both directions about 25 kilometres west of Revelstoke to Sicamous.

Drive BC reported the highway closure on Friday morning at 6:30 a.m.

There is currently no estimated time as to when it will re-open, as the assessment is in progress.

There is also no detour or alternate route.
