Original Story:

The Trans-Canada Highway 25 kilometres west of Revelstoke is expected to open on Sunday, June 11th.

Highway 23 south to Naksup is the alternate route for this section. Expect delays around both the Upper and Lower Arrow Lakes Ferries. Drive BC recommends Highway 3 for inter-provincial travel.

With a weekend of heavy volume of summer traffic anticipated, we ask all travellers to be patient and anticipate delays through the alternate routes. Prepare for the added time to your trip and enjoy some of our towns that you may not  have visited this weekend. All are ready to extend some hospitality to weary travellers stated Cpl Dan Moskaluk.

Engineers continue to assess the site and work on building up the section of road by Camp Bridge that was washed out by a mudslide on Thursday evening.

Revelstoke RCMP and the Ministry of Transportation attended to Camp Creek along Highway 1 late Thursday evening.

After about 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, the Highway was overpowered by the creek and the water and debris had completely covered the highway.

RCMP searched the area to determine that there were no vehicles or people missing.

Westbound motorists are being diverted to Highway 23 south of Revelstoke to the Shelter Bay Ferry. Eastbound travellers are being diverted to Sicamous.
