It’s fortunate that a close call in Delta didn’t result in some serious injuries to a police officer conducting a traffic stop.

Today, the Delta Police shared video of the incident, which happened on Sept. 30.

It shows a driver travelling with excessive speed while weaving in and out of lanes on Hwy 17 to advance itself in traffic.

In the video, the driver uses a right turn lane to get by two vehicles, but a police officer has another motorist pulled over on the right-hand edge of that lane.

The driver comes precariously close to the two pulled-over vehicles as it pulls back into the two-lane road in front of the two drivers that were the subjects of the dangerous pass.

“You are required to slow down and move over when there are flashing blue, red or yellow lights on a vehicle at the side of the road,” said a tweet from the Delta Police.

“(A) narrow miss that could have been much worse for officer and motorist.”

Thanks to the dash cam footage, police were able to locate the owner of the car, who was issued a $368 ticket.
