B.C.’s Cariboo district was one of the many regions around the province that endured an unprecedented fire season in 2017.

Thousands were forced to evacuate due to the Hanceville-Riske Creek and Plateau wildfires when they began to threaten homes.

A new infographic from the Cariboo Regional District's emergency operations centre shows just how large and just how fast the wildfires grew.

The infographic depicts the progression of evacuation alerts, orders and wildfire perimeters in the Cariboo for July, August and September of this year.

Cariboo Regional District's emergency operations centre officially closed for the season just under a month ago following the busiest fire season in B.C.’s history.
