(UPDATE: May 27 @ 3:15 p.m.) - The man believed to have followed a woman home from a bus stop and violently assault her last week has been arrested.
A 59-year-old Vancouver man is in police custody following an alleged violent sexual assault which occurred in East Vancouver on Thursday.
Police issued a public warning on Friday following the incident, which happened the day before, and released images of him on Saturday. They arrested him "without incident" Monday morning.

“Our detectives have been working tirelessly on this investigation. We would like to thank the public for their assistance in helping identify the suspect,” says Sergeant Jason Robillard, Vancouver Police Department.
VPD investigators believe he followed the victim, a woman in her 20s, home from a bus stop on 41st Avenue near Earles Street and sexually assaulted her inside her home at around noon.
VPD say they will be recommending several charges to Crown Counsel related to the alleged aggravated sexual assault.

Vancouver Police have released images in hopes of identifying a man they believe followed a woman home from a bus stop and proceeded to attack her in her own home on Thursday.
According to Police, a woman in her 20s was stalked home from a bus stop near East 41st Avenue and Earles Street before he engaged in a "violent sex attack" around noon that day.
VPD Sex Crimes Unit has been collecting evidence and pursuing leads since the day of the attack, but have been unable to identify the attacker. On Saturday Police released images of the suspect, hoping to identify him.
“This investigation is a high priority for us and we want to identify this individual as soon as possible,” says Constable Steve Addison, VPD.

“We ask everyone to take a good, long look at these pictures, and to call us if they know who this is . . . we’re confident someone out there knows this man, or has seen him in the neighbourhood.”
Police issued a public warning the following day, on Friday, regarding the attack.
Police are urging citizens with any information regarding the high priority case to call the VPD Sex Crimes Unit at (604)717-0604 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Alternatively, if you see the suspect, you are asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
