The average price of one and two-bedroom rentals in Kelowna saw a slight jump to start September.

This month's Canadian Rent Report pegged Kelowna as the eighth most expensive city for renters in Canada, up one spot from August.

According to PadMapper, the average price of a one-bedroom rental in the city jump close to one percent from August to September, with rent actually decreasing nearly two percent for two-bedroom units.

The data shows that one bedroom rentals are now going for a median price of $1,170.

Meanwhile, two bedroom rentals are going for a median price of $1,520.

Despite the minimal month over month changes, Kelowna's rental rates for a one bedroom unit has skyrocketed since this time last year.

The average price of one bedroom rentals is up 6.4% since this time last year, however the average price of a two bedroom rental has actually decreased by 3.8%.

Despite the large increase in the price of one bedroom units over the past 12 months, Kelowna remains the cheapest of the four B.C. cities sitting in the top 10.

After being taken over by Toronto, Vancouver is currently the second most expensive city for renters in Canada, with Burnaby sitting third and Victoria not far behind in seventh place.

Abbotsford, where the average price of a one bedroom unit is $950, sits at 16th and is the only other city in B.C. to make the list.
