Kelowna 7th-most expensive Canadian city for renters

Kelowna has been ranked the seventh-most expensive city for renters in Canada for the third month in a row.

With an average one-bedroom apartment costing $1,300 a month, the city is tied with Ottawa for expensiveness, according to a PadMapper report released on Tuesday.

Last month’s report showed an average cost of $1,250 for a one-bedroom apartment in Kelowna, meaning there has been a 4% month-on-month increase.

The year-on-year increase is calculated at 15%.

Two-bedroom apartments in Kelowna cost an average of $1,680 a month, showing no change from last month’s report.

Other BC cities on the list include second-place Vancouver, where one-bedroom apartments cost an average of $2,130 a month, and third-place Burnaby, where they cost $1,570.

Victoria - where one-bedroom pads cost an average of $1,390 - is fifth in the report.

Abbotsford is 18th on the list, with an average monthly rent of $950 for a one-bedroom apartment.

Toronto tops the list, with an average monthly rent of $2,260 for a one-bed.

But Vancouver holds the top spot for two-beds, which cost an average of $3,230 every month.
