At age 92, Wilfred Roach, is ready to part with the family estate on Okanagan Lake for an incredible $9.3 million.

Roach, an engineer by trade who made his fortune in Alberta oil and gas before going on to a lucrative career in investing in businesses, has owned the 5.4-acre property for almost 50 years and had the main house built in 1989.

And what a main house it is -- 7,800 square feet of French country-inspired beauty with massive windows framing the view of a beach and Okanagan Lake.

It contains four bedroom suites, five bathrooms, gourmet kitchen, formal and informal living and dining rooms, library, den, billiards room, wet bar and balconies and patios galore.

The property also features sandy beach, rolling lawn, salt water pool and pool house and deep-water dock.

There's also a two-bedroom cottage and boathouse with an apartment on the estate, making this property a true family compound.

It's all located at 245 Swick Rd., off the far end of Lakeshore Road, hidden from the road, but is visible, in all its splendor, from the lake.

"(It's called) Shadow Bay," said Richard Deacon, the listing agent from Engels & Volkers Okanagan.

"(It's) a rare chance to own an iconic Okanagan, 5.4-acre, estate property with 335 feet of lakefront and private vineyard (growing Merlot and Chardonnay grape for wine)."

Deacon has gone all-out to market the estate internationally because, while the moneyed and discerning potential buyer might be from the Okanagan, Vancouver or Calgary, they are just as likely to be from the US or Europe.

Either way, they'll be after the consummate Okanagan waterfront lifestyle, whether they live in the mansion full-time or use it as a vacation home.

The video Deacon had done to spotlight the estate opens with a vintage shiny-black Cadillac convertible driving up to the mansion, replete with lots of aerial and moving beauty shots.

By the way, the Cadillac is the same car used to shuttle Princess Elizabeth (before she was queen) and Prince Philip around during their tour of Vancouver in 1951.
