A new country-wide rent report pegs Kelowna as the 15 most expensive city in Canada for renters.

According to the April Rent Report from Rentals.ca, the average rental cost for two bedroom units versus a one bedroom unit is trending in the opposite direction.

The report states that the average cost for a one bedroom unit in Kelowna sits at $1,277 - down 1.7% since March.

Meanwhile, a two bedroom unit in Kelowna rents for an average of $1,794 - up 2.3% since March.

Nationally, basement apartments and townhouses were more expensive to rent in March compared to a month earlier, while rental apartments were virtually unchanged.

Single-family properties (single-detached and semi-detached houses) and condominium apartments were also less expensive on average in Canada.

Rentals.ca has forecasted that finding a suitable rental property will likely become easier in the coming years.

Ongoing apartment projects in South Kelowna, Gellatly, North Glenmore, Glenmore, downtown and University district as key components in fulfilling demand.
