It’s not a good day to be travelling throughout the BC Interior.

On Wednesday night, Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for both the Coquihalla Highway and Hwy 3, but they’re certainly not the only highways causing issues.

Almost every mountain pass in the region has been hit hard with snow overnight and more is on the way Thursday morning.

"A Pacific weather system will bring snow to the southern highway passes tonight and Thursday,” says the snowfall warning from Environment Canada.

“The heavy snow will ease in intensity through Thursday but periods of snow is still expected.”

Up to 20 centimetres was expected to hit certain mountain passes while this storm passed through.

Early morning DriveBC webcam images show snowy and slippery conditions on most of these highways with the Coquihalla and Hwy 3, as Environment Canada predicted, being the worst hit.

Avoid mountain travel if you don’t need to do it and check DriveBC for the latest conditions and potential highway closures.
