UPDATE: Coquihalla reopens to southbound traffic after crashes

(UPDATE: Jan. 11 @ 11:30 am): The highway is now open to southbound traffic. 

Heavy congestion is expected, DriveBC explained.


(Original story: Jan. 11 @ 10 am): Hwy 5 is closed between Hope and Merritt. 

DriveBC said a “multi-vehicle incident” between Exit 202 and Exit 286 is to blame.

Major delays are expected, DriveBC explained. 

There is no estimated time for the highway’s reopening.

The Coquihalla is currently open to commercial traffic only.
