It’s not a good start to the week for B.C. highways.

The Coquihalla (Hwy 5) is closed southbound between Hope and the summit following a vehicle incident.

More Info!

The exact location of the closure is at the Portia Interchange (exit 202).

It’s been closed since around 1 a.m. and isn’t expected to reopen until 2 p.m., according to DriveBC.

Detours are available via Hwy 5A to Hwy 3 or Hwy 8 to Hwy 1.

Even once the road opens, there will likely be significant delays as traffic has lined up on the highway throughout the night.

NowMedia will update this story as more information becomes available.
