UPDATE: Hwy 97A reopens after fatal incident north of Armstrong

(UPDATE: Oct. 26 @ 6:12 am): Hwy 97A has reopened after a fatal incident early on Sunday morning.

The police watchdog is now investigating after the death of a man at about 3 am near McCallan Road.

A woman was also hurt.

(Original story: Oct. 25 @ 8 am): Travellers looking to go between the Okanagan and the Shuswap should be aware of a closure on Hwy 97A.

According to Drive BC, a multi-vehicle incident has the road closed in both directions north of Armstrong. The collision occurred between Mountain View Road and McCallan Road. 

At this point, crews are on scene and an assessment is in progress. Residents are advised to watch out for traffic control on-site. 

A detour is also in effect via McLeary Road to Lansdowne Road.
