(UPDATE: Sept. 20 @ 9:25 pm) - Hwy 97 has reopened to traffic in both directions following a lengthy closure this evening.
The main artery through the Central Okanagan shut down before 5 pm following a serious multi-vehicle crash.
It created headaches for a number of people trying to vote, which led to Elections Canada being flooded by calls from frustrated residents that were stuck in traffic.
There have been reports that the accident was fatal, but that has not been confirmed by officials at this time.
