The Kicking Horse Canyon project has reached an important milestone as the first parts of the Sheep Bridge have been installed.

The first concrete girders have been completed and will support the bridge deck.

According to a statement, this is the westernmost structure under construction in the fourth phase of this project.

Construction continues east of Golden to realign and widen a 4.8 kilometre section of the Trans-Canada Highway.

According to a statement, the project will improve highway safety by adding four lanes with a median barrier and wider road shoulders.

Construction is expected to be completed in winter 2023.

The Trans-Canada Highway is closed between Golden and Castle Junction until Nov. 30 with detours available through highways 93 and 95.
