A freezing rain warning has been issued for the Okanagan Connector.

Environment Canada said the warning covers Monday evening and early Tuesday morning.

It comes amid weather warnings across much of the province due to an atmospheric river.

The forecaster said there was potential for ice-covered and slippery surfaces along Hwy 97C between Merritt and Kelowna.

It added: “An atmospheric river will reach the BC South Coast today. Light snow will begin this afternoon then transition to freezing rain this evening as warm air aloft arrives.

“By early Tuesday morning, the warming will have eroded the cold air and all precipitation should be rain or showers.”
