If you happen to be travelling this way for the long weekend, take into account Highway 3 is currently closed due to a mudslide.

The mudslide has closed the highway 30 km west of Creston. Clean up is in progress, but Transportation BC is looking at an estimated opening time between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. tomorrow.

A detour is available via Highway 3A  and the Kootenay Lake Ferry, with one sailing wait in both directions.
