(UPDATE: Feb. 21 at 6:55 am): The highway has now reopened.

(Original story: Feb. 21 at 5:10 am): Hwy 1 has been closed in both directions west of Kamloops since late last night.

DriveBC said it was due to a “vehicle incident” between Thompson River Drive and Deadman-Vidette Road, west of Savona.

Delays are expected.

DriveBC said drivers should consider a different route.

Its next update is scheduled for 7 am.

As of a little after 5 am, DriveBC estimates the road will reopen at 8 am.
