(UPDATE: 8:40am) - DriveBC says that the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) is now open to single-lane alternating traffic.

The road was closed for two-and-a-half hours after a "vehicle incident," which DriveBC reported to be a flipped semi.

It's estimated that the highway will fully reopen by 10:30am.

(UPDATE: 7:25am) - DriveBC has confirmed the location of this morning's Hwy 1 closure.

The accident, which is believed to be a flipped semi, is just east of Albert Canyon, about 35 kilometres east of Revelstoke.

An assessment is in progress and there's still no estimate on when the highway will reopen to traffic.

(Original story: 6:10am) - After a lengthy closure on Wednesday, the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) is closed near Revelstoke once again.

DriveBC says the road is at a standstill east of the mountain town due to a vehicle incident.

The initial tweet regarding the closure did not say how far east of Revelstoke the closure is.

Crews are still en route to the scene and now time frame has been given for the accident to be cleared.

“Initial reports say it is a flipped semi,” said a follow up tweet from DriveBC.

NowMedia will update this story when more information becomes available.
