UPDATE: Hwy 1 fully reopened after earlier vehicle incident

(UPDATE: 2:20 pm) - Crews have cleared a vehicle incident from this morning and Hwy 1 is now fully open to traffic once again.

(Original story: 10:10 am) - A “vehicle incident” has closed Hwy 1 between Chilliwack and Hope.

Emergency crews are currently at the scene, which is near Herrling Island Road.

The assessment is still in progress, but at this time DriveBC says the estimated time for the road to reopen is 2 pm.

There is a detour available via Hwy 7 by turning off Hwy 1 at Hope.
