(UPDATE: April 20 @ 2:20 p.m.) - If you've been affected by this week's Hwy 33 closure, here's some good news.

The road is set to fully reopen this afternoon, three days after a washout closed it in both directions east of Kelowna.

Transportation B.C. estimates it will open by 4 p.m., but that time isn't set in stone.

(UPDATE: April 18 @ 10:40 a.m.) - Crews are on the scene of yesterday's washout on Hwy 33, just east of Kelowna.

As work to repair the road continues, it remains closed for the time being from Goudie Road to Cardinal Creek Road.

A detour is available via both of those roads, however, commercial vehicles will need to take a detour via Hwy 97 and Hwy 3.

There's no estimated time for Hwy 33 to reopen.

(Original story: April 17 @ 7:15 a.m.) - A washout has resulted in the closure of Hwy 33.

DriveBC reported the closure shortly before 7 a.m.

Just over 23 kilometres of the road is closed, spanning from the Hwy 97 turnoff to Mission Creek Bridge.

There’s no estimated time for Hwy 33 to reopen to traffic.

There is, however, a detour available via Goudie Road and Cardinal Creek Road.

An assessment is in progress and DriveBC will provide the next update at 8 a.m.

NowMedia will update this story as more information becomes available.
