(Update: 8:30 a.m.) - Highway 3 west of the Kootenay Pass summit is now open after being closed this morning due to a high avalanche hazard.

Drive BC has reported that Highway 3 is closed this morning due to a high avalanche hazard.

The highway has been closed west of the Kootenay Pass summit. An alternate route is available via Highway 3A from Castlegar to Creston via the Kootenay Lake Ferry.
