(UPDATE: Oct. 25 @ 8:43 am): The highway is now clear.

Motorists have been urged to drive with care.


(UPDATE: Oct. 25 @ 7 am): The road is now open to single-lane traffic.

DriveBC has warned motorists to expect delays.


(Original story: Oct. 25 @ 5:30 am): Hwy 5A is closed in both directions north of Merritt this morning. 

It’s due to a vehicle incident on the highway early this morning.  

It happened between Junction Hwy 97C and Monck Park Road.

A detour is in effect through Hwy 5, DriveBC explained. 

Crews are now assessing the road.  

Drivers have been warned to expect delays.
