UPDATE: RCMP confirm morning accident off Hwy 97 in Peachland was fatal

(UPDATE: July 12 @ 5:00 pm): West Kelowna RCMP is currently investigating the collision on Hwy 97 at Princeton Avenue, which claimed the life of one individual. 

Shortly after 2:30 am this morning, police were called to the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident involving a small car and a semi-truck.

The driver of the small car did not survive the collision.

Police have asked anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or was in the area and has dashcam footage of the collision and has not yet spoken to police, to call the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880, quoting file number 2022-42683.


(UPDATE: July 12 @ 11:38 am): The road is now clear.

DriveBC urged motorists to watch out for crews in the area.


(UPDATE: July 12 @ 8 am): Hwy 97 is now open to single-lane alternating traffic after a crash in Peachland early this morning. 

Drivers have been warned to expect delays.


(Original story: July 12 @ 5:30 am): Hwy 97 is closed in both directions in Peachland. 

DriveBC said there was a vehicle incident at Princeton Avenue in the early hours of this morning.  

No detour is available. 

First responders are at the scene.  

DriveBC said an assessment is in progress and an update will be provided at 8 am.
