UPDATE: Hwy 97 opened after vehicle incident near Falkland

(Update: May 5, 2024 @ 5:30 pm): Hwy 97 is now open to traffic. 

The vehicle incident west of Falkland has been cleared according to DriveBC. 


(Update: May 5, 2024 @ 3:30 pm): Hwy 97 remains closed in both directions near Falkland. 

The next update from DriveBC is expected sometime around 5 pm. 

Northbound motorists can take Salmon River Road as a detour and those heading southbound should take Hwy 1 to Hwy 97b.


(Original story: May 5, 2024 @ 12:15 pm)Traffic is at a standstill outside of Falkland in between Kamloops and Vernon.

DriveBC says Hwy 97 is closed in both directions due to a vehicle incident. 

The incident is west of Falkland between Wetaskiwin Road and Back Road.

DriveBC adds that an assessment is in progress and an update is expected shortly.
