UPDATE: Accident cleared, traffic back to normal on Hwy 97

(UPDATE: 12:10 p.m.) - The accident at Hwy 97 and Ellis Street has been cleared and traffic is slowly returning back to normal on Hwy 97.

The KelownaNow reader who reported the backed up traffic informed the newsroom that the crash was between a BMW and a minivan.

(Original story: 10:35 a.m.) - Emergency crews are on the scene of a crash in downtown Kelowna that has eastbound traffic on Hwy 97 significantly backed up.

The crash happened this morning at the intersection of Hwy 97 and Ellis Street.

A KelownaNow reader who drove by the accident heading west says the eastbound traffic is backed up past Friends Pub and Liquor Store.

Two cars were reportedly involved in the accident.
