Salmon Arm RCMP is investigating a case of "road rage" as a criminal assault that occurred on Thursday on BC Hwy 1.

According to police, a semi-truck was forced to stop by a driver of a car near the Salmon River Bridge. The driver of the car slammed on his brakes in front of the truck in traffic which stopped both vehicles.

Police explained that a subsequent verbal engagement took place between the driver of the car and the two occupants of the semi. The driver of the car also allegedly kicked the driver of the semi.

This incident was independently witnessed and caught on the semi-truck's dashcam. Police are following up on the investigation which may have stemmed from a possible driving incident before the assault. Witness statements have already been gathered and the video from the semi has been secured for the investigation.

RCMP would like to remind residents to report dangerous driving or driving incidents to their local detachments. It could result in a ticket issued for an offence rather than a criminal investigation into the actions of a person who feels they've been wronged.
