A late night rock slide has Hwy 5 (the Coquihalla) closed near Merritt.
The slide occurred 3.5 kilometres south of Merritt just a few minutes before midnight.

The closure is for northbound traffic only and there’s no estimated time for the road to reopen.
An assessment is currently in progress, however, and DriveBC expects to provide further updates at 9 a.m.
A detour is available via Hwy 1.
