It’s the time of year where Kelowna’s roads receive a little TLC.

Around $3.5 million will be invested in asphalt improvements and resurfacing through the city this over the next five months.

That’ll cover about 40 lane kilometres of roads in 16 different segments.

“Figuring out which roads will be prioritized each year, as well as the level of repair required, involves some testing and software analysis,” says Bruce Dacre, roads design technologist.

“And to manage costs, we coordinate road repairs with other projects such as utility work and bike lanes.”

Those other projects include bike lanes being added on Bernard Avenue, between Richter and Ethel streets, and on Ellis Street, between Roanoke and Broadways streets, as part of the pavement management program this year.

Here are the 16 stretches of road that will be resurfaced this year:

There will be short-term lane closures and detours in effect where work is taking place.
