If you plan on travelling between the BC Interior and the Lower Mainland tonight, it might be best to avoid the Coquihalla Highway.

It may be the quickest route, but once again the high mountain pass is expecting a decent dump of snow that will begin this evening and continue overnight.

While it’s not enough to warrant a weather alert from Environment Canada, there’s still 13 centimetres forecast for this evening, adding on to a couple of centimetres this afternoon.

Combine that with temperatures well below 0°C and you can expect the roads to be slick.

If you’re leaving on Friday afternoon or early enough in the evening, you should be able to travel the route before the snow gets too bad.

Currently, Drive BC webcams show favourable conditions even at the highway’s highest points.
