UPDATE: Hwy 97C near Merritt open in both directions after vehicle incident

(UPDATE: Thurs, Aug. 15., 7:50 pm): DriveBC is now reporting that the Okanagan Connector (Highway 97C) is fully reopened after a vehicle incident earlier this evening. 

(UPDATE: Thurs, Aug. 15., 6:45 pm): DriveBC is now reporting that the westbound lanes of the Okanagan Connector (Highway 97C) have been reopened following a vehicle collision. 

The eastbound lanes are expected to reopen at 8 pm. 

(Original Story): The Okanagan Connector (Highway 97C) has been shut down in both directions due to a vehicle collision. 

According to Drive BC, the incident was first reported just after 3:30 pm on Thursday afternoon.

Details are scarce, but the collision reportedly occurred between 35km and 23km west of Merritt near Loon Lake Road.

There is currently no estimated time of reopening, however, an update will be provided around 4:30 pm.
