(UPDATE: March 26 @ 9:45 am) - The Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) is now open to single-lane alternating traffic east of Golden.

It had been shut down for a short time due to a vehicle fire, but crews are now letting traffic through slowly.

DriveBC advises motorists to expect "major delays."

(Original story: March 26 @ 9:15 am) - The Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) is currently shut down in both directions east of Golden.

DriveBC says the cause of the closure is a vehicle fire just outside the west boundary of Yoho National Park.

There is no detour or estimated time of reopening at this point.

DriveBC has promised an update at 10 am PDT.
