2 drivers extricated from vehicles, sent to hospital following collision on Hwy 1 east of Salmon Arm

A pair of drivers are alright following a multi-vehicle collision east of Salmon Arm on Sunday night. 

According to police, 10 minutes before midnight, officers responded to reports of a two-vehicle head-on collision on the Trans Canada Highway, 10 kilometres outside the city. RCMP, paramedics and the fire department all responded to the scene. 

Through investigation, they found that the impact was primarily on the driver side of both vehicles. 

Both drivers were conscious and only suffered non-life-threatening injuries. They had to be extricated from their vehicles and transported to the hospital by ambulance. 

The highway was closed for a period of time as the drivers were attended to and the wreckage was removed.

The investigation into what caused the collision is ongoing.
