A BC Interior nurse has been suspended for a week due to a series of practice issues during night shifts.
Feizal Halim, from Salmon Arm, entered a consent agreement with the Inquiry Committee of the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) on Sunday.
According to the BCCNM, Halim’s practice issues were “related to directing care staff to bring residents who would not sleep or rang their call bell frequently to the dining room, open the windows, turn off the lights, not provide coffee, snacks, or a blanket, and for refusing to assist a resident with toileting and communicating with the resident inappropriately and disrespectfully.”
The incidents occurred in March and April 2021.
Alongside a one-week suspension, Salim agreed to:

A prohibition on him being the sole nurse on duty

Remedial education in ethics and communication

A regulatory practice consulting program “to address the foundational issues underpinning” the agreement
The BCNNM’s Inquiry Committee said it is “satisfied that the terms will protect the public.”
