Salmon Arm Mounties have launched an investigation into a series of suspicious incidents that happened earlier this week, resulting in the arrest of a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.
On Sunday, officers were called to Shuswap Lakes General Hospital after a man was brought in with gunshot wounds.
The man was reportedly uncooperative with police, however, officers later discovered that he was wanted on an outstanding parole violation warrant.
He was arrested and turned over to federal corrections.
While officers were dealing with the man, the police were also called to a vehicle fire to the east of Canoe on a forest service road.
The car was later reported to be stolen from Alberta and police are investigating a possible connection to the shooting.
The next day, on May 29, Mounties were notified that a newer model black Ford bronco was sitting on Harbourfront Drive and Marine Park Drive with what appeared to be bullet holes in the side.
At this time, police believe the black SUV was involved in the shooting incident, which is thought to be a targeted incident.
The man who was in the hospital has known ties to an organized crime group from outside the Salmon Arm area, says S/Sgt. Scott West.
The RCMP are asking the public for their help. Any dashcam or home security footage that caught any suspicious activity in the area of Harbourfront Drive or the Salmon Arm hospital can be shown to officers at the detachment.
