One dead after logging truck crosses centre line and crashes into minivan along Hwy 97A

The driver of a minivan has been killed after being hit by a logging truck near Sicamous.

Police said the truck crossed the centre line into oncoming traffic and then crashed into the Dodge Grand Caravan. 

It happened on Sunday at about 2:30 pm along Hwy 97A, near Mara Lake.

The truck was heading north, police said, and the minivan south.

No information has been released about the victim.

Police said: “Tragically the driver of the van was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

They added: “Road conditions were reportedly very poor, however all avenues of investigation are being considered at this early stage.” 

The driver of the truck was not hurt in the crash, according to Mounties, and is cooperating with police.

Officers from Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Services and Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement are investigating the incident.
