UPDATE: Salmon Arm RCMP arrest armed robbery suspect

(UPDATE: June 5 @ 7:17 am): The suspect in this case has been arrested, police said.

Investigators believe that the suspect entered the store unmasked moments prior to the robbery, said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. 

"Images of the suspect had been disseminated to the media in an effort to identify him. Tip information has led to the suspect being identified and arrested by police."

Police, who initially said the suspect was a man, have now discovered he is in fact a youth. 

The investigation is ongoing, with the suspect facing charges, police said.

(Original story: June 1 @ 12 pm): Mounties are asking for the public’s help to identify a man accused of robbing a Salmon Arm gas station with a gun. 

The Husky station, at 50 Trans-Canada Highway, was robbed at about 6 am on May 31. 

The suspect had his face covered with a mask and was carrying a handgun, police said. 

He then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. 

“Investigators believe that the suspect entered the store unmasked moments prior to the robbery,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.
