More than $1 million was donated to the United Way of Central and South Okanagan/Similkameen last year.

The 2015 fundraising goal for the organization was $1.5 million, but unfortunately the final tally was a close $1,253,257.

“Despite the state of the economy, our community continues to support United Way making an extraordinary impact throughout the Okanagan Similkameen”, said Shelley Gilmore, Executive Director.

“Our volunteer impact teams will now go to work evaluating agency applications and determining the best, sustainable investments for these funds.”

The top campaigner this year was Costco. Every single employee took part in the campaign and the company raised close to $95,000 for United Way.

The money raised this year will go towards programs and initiatives that address the root causes of poverty in the region.
