When it comes to landscaping, most people think plants, trees, pavers, rocks - this year, think outside the standard elements. Thanks to my friends at Bent Branches Landscaping Services they gave me some tips for trying something different.

This year you’ll be seeing “pergolas, unique veggie boxes, outdoor lighting, fans, fire and incorporating custom water features.” This is the perfect time to start planning for something new and exciting!

Pergolas and Sun Shades

A pergola is an outdoor structure that is typically open and provides some shade/shelter from the elements.

Pergolas are a great way to create an outdoor sitting area and the structure can add dimension to a flat, uninteresting space.

Raised Garden Beds

Not only are these practical but they can look great too!

Outdoor Living

The key to a successful outdoor living space is to add in pieces you would typically find indoors to extend the time you can spend outside.

Decorative lights look great and are functional for when the evenings start to get shorter.

Fans help to move the hot air when there isn’t a breeze, making the Okanagan heat more bearable in the dead of summer.

Fire not only adds ambiance but can extend your outdoor season at the beginning and end.

Custom Water Features

The sound of water creates a relaxing atmosphere to your outdoor space; now you can have the added touch with a custom piece that doubles as a piece of art!
