KelownaNow is excited to feature some of our favourite Instagram profiles from the area!

Justin Hill is a 23-year-old Kelowna based photographer, originally born in Vancouver BC and has lived in over 5 different cities across BC.

I have always had a passion for photography since my Father introduced me to his film camera when I was about 12 years old.

Since then I have had a camera on me everywhere I go, shooting anything that caught my eye. Once moved to Kelowna, my passion expanded to event photography, but my love for landscapes and adventures still thrives and I continue to bring my camera on every adventure.

Why do you use Instagram?

Instagram is one the best ways to connect with other creators and provides more opportunities in my field than any other platforms would. I also love the ability to have a portfolio of your work on you at all times.

What will people see on your feed?

On Crafted Canada people will typically see different views from around BC, including of course photos of the beautiful Okanagan and soon to host a collection of local creators from around Canada. My personal page @jjustinhilll consists of my favourite shots I’ve taken from music events in Kelowna as well as portraits.

Does your page have a specific style?

I wouldn’t say I have a particular style, but if I were to narrow it down it would be anything involving landscapes and the music scene around the Okanagan.

Favourite Instagram accounts to follow?

My favourite accounts to follow would be:

@ggeofferyy for a unique perspective of urban landscapes

@richardkelly for his ridiculous Instagram stories and the documentation of the island.

@hellobc for the amazing views around BC and to gain inspiration

@teaghanmcginnis for his amazing portrait and video work

Why do you follow KelownaNow?

KelownaNow is a great platform for local creatives and I enjoy discovering new accounts to follow through KelownaNow, and hey they’re local!

How do you decide on your location for shoots?

The locations aren’t always decided with the intent of shooting. I will usually bring my camera along anywhere I go and if I see something interesting I’m going to shoot it. As far as music events, wherever there is good music!

Biggest Instagram moment?

Any collaborations with other local creators!

Favourite hashtags?

It’s a secret!
