Daniel Jones is a Kelowna based photographer/digital artist with a passion for creating captivating imagery. He is an avid skateboarder, snowboarder, mountain biker, hiker, yogi, surfer and traveler—and the love of the outdoors has always found a way into his work.
Daniel is currently at the helm of a freelance photography/digital art business (http://thedanieljones.com/) with a focus on commercial advertisements, travel/tourism, action sports, lifestyle, artistic portraits, and outdoor environments.
Why do you use Instagram?
I use Instagram to share my imagery with a wider global audience. I love that you can get images that might otherwise be sitting on a computer, or in a local gallery, out to a much broader viewership. I also love following all the other amazing artists and photographers on Instagram. It’s a never ending stash of creativity and inspiration.
What will people see on your feed?
Most of my feed shows activities (action sports, adventure tourism and lifestyle activities) that I participate in, as well as personal art projects. I will occasionally share contract work on there, but only if it is something that fits in with my feed.
Does your page have a specific style?
I’m going to say no…….I do have a style to my work, but you are not going to see one specific look throughout my feed. I photograph and create with many different genres and would not want to limit myself to only one specific approach or subject matter. I know there is definitely a place for niche a style, but I like to create organically without limitations.

Why do you follow KelownaNow?
I like the local news updates and to see what other local artists are creating/doing.
How do you decide on your location for shoots?
I am constantly keeping my eye out for interesting photo locations. I find that locations can often inspire a photo idea or sometimes I have the idea and will have to seek out the location. More often than not, I’ll stumble across a location while out biking, travelling or snowboarding in the winter.
Biggest Instagram moment?
I’ve had a few noteworthy features but, hands down, it was when @Icecube shared one of my photos.
