Local poets will be entertaining and inspiring their audience with an evening of poetry, music and discussion in Kelowna during an event exploring what it means to be a thankful individual, community and nation.
The Inspired Word Cafe is hosting a spoken word event to celebrate gratitude on Oct. 20 from 6- 7:30 p.m. with all proceeds from the event going to Kelowna Community Food Bank.
As Central Okanagan Local Immigration Partnership Coordinator at Kelowna Community Resources, Rawle Iam is excited to share his message. He warmly welcomes everyone, whether you are seasoned with spoken word or a rookie with poetry.
“Poetry is part of being human, it’s an artistic and effective way of communicating,” said Rawle. “If you enjoy music and lyrics, you’ll also enjoy spoken word.”
Other poets include Mark Bartolutti, Jessica LaPlante, Diane Larsback and Reyhaneh Moghadas.
The event is a partnership between the Gratitude Project, Inspired Word Cafe and the Local Immigration Partnership of the Central Okanagan. The event costs $5 which can be paid at the door or guests can bring a bag of food. All proceeds go towards the Kelowna Food Bank.
